Playful Thresholds - Creative exploration of Vulnerability

  • with Santiago Harris | im Heartspace 14 Jakominiplatz Graz, Steiermark, 8010 Österreich (Karte)

Discover how vulnerability, when met with curiosity and play, can become a doorway to deeper connection with yourself and others.

Most of us long for deeper connection—with ourselves and with others. Yet often the ways we've learned to stay safe can also keep us from the connection we long for.

What if the moments we usually try to avoid—not knowing, making mistakes, feeling exposed—could become doorways to authenticity, creativity, and connection?

What this workshop is about

In this workshop, we'll explore vulnerability through the body, through play, and through human connection. Together we'll create a space where mistakes are welcome, curiosity matters more than getting it right, and laughter can soften the places where we usually become guarded.

To support this exploration, we'll draw inspiration from an ancient figure found in stories across the world: part fool, part trickster, part sacred wanderer. The Fool of the Tarot, stepping off the cliff with an open heart. Through clown and embodied play, this archetype invites us to discover that error is not the opposite of wisdom but its origin, and that play is not the opposite of seriousness but its root.

This workshop takes place in that territory.

Why this matters

We live in nervous systems shaped not only by personal history, but by collective history—by legacies of colonization, hierarchies, and systems that have long demanded performance over presence, productivity over feeling, certainty over curiosity. Many of us carry inherited patterns of dissociation: ways of abandoning the body that once protected us, and that now prevent us from the connection we long for.

Through the body-wisdom of clowning—where failure becomes funny, where the "wrong" move opens a door—we'll find our way back to vulnerability as a somatic foundation, not as a breakdown, but as a place where authenticity resides. The body that can stumble, blush, and laugh at itself is the same body that can risk authentic connection.

What You'll Experience

In this workshop, you will:

  • Practice embodied presence through clown and play, discovering how vulnerability, humor, and "failure" can become gateways to authenticity and connection.

  • Cultivate curiosity over judgment as a stance toward your own defenses, recognizing them as intelligent responses shaped by personal and collective history.

  • Build relational resilience—a felt sense of security in yourself and with others—that can be carried beyond the workshop into daily life and practice.

  • Develop greater nervous system awareness, learning to recognize and gently work with your body's responses to vulnerability, exposure, and connection.

  • Explore the Drama Triangle (victim, persecutor, rescuer) as a living map of relational patterns, including those inherited through family, culture, gender, and social position.

Main Topics for Exploration

  • The path of the Fool: error, play, and risk as routes to creative enthusiasm.

  • The nervous system and the body's intelligence in relationship (inspired by Somatic Experiencing).

  • Facing our defenses with curiosity rather than shame (inspired by Compassionate Inquiry).

  • The Drama Triangle—victim, persecutor, rescuer—and the roles we unconsciously rehearse.

  • Trauma and dissociation in a social context: how collective history, status, and power dynamics shape the body's narrative.

  • The clown who sustains us: failure, humor, and embodied presence (inspired by Alain Vigneau's Essential Clown).

  • Vulnerability as ground, not collapse: practicing authentic connection.

This Workshop Is for You If...

  • You long for deeper and more authentic connection—with yourself and with others.

  • You notice that the ways you've learned to stay safe may also be limiting your sense of authenticity and connection.

  • You want to explore vulnerability with more curiosity and less judgment.

  • You're curious about clown, play, embodiment, or relational exploration, even if you've never tried them before.

  • You're drawn to spaces that combine depth and lightness, seriousness and play.

  • You want to feel more secure in relationships and meet moments of exposure or uncertainty with greater ease.

  • You're open to exploring how personal history and collective history coexist in the body.

  • or you are a mental health professional, coach, facilitator, or bodyworker wanting to deepen your embodied and trauma-informed practice.

Open to all 18+.
